Why FamilyIgloo.com ?

FamilyIgloo was developed to serve as an informative, safe, fun and synergistic social family network site. With today’s ever increasing hectic lifestyles, getting informed about family related news and connecting with likeminded peers is often a difficult task to accomplish. Time and again couples with young children have limited occasion to socialize outside the family unit, which becomes one of our primary goals. We hope that this site will allow families to get informed about some of the latest family related web articles, enforce long distance ties, get to know their neighborhood, find families with similar outdoor/indoor hobbies, and share photos, videos, and precious moments with selected members. We also hope that families will get to meet each other in a SECURE environment such as family excursions, park barbecues, dining out, birthday parties, hiking out, moms’ night out, fathers’ night out and toys exchange and resale.

-Forming on line PTA social groups to share photos and videos privately.

-Forming social groups and forums for families with children with chronic diseases such as cerebral palsy and seizure

2- Aggregated news network. A summary of current and archived online news that is considered to be family related such as financial reviews, fashion reviews, parenting advice, product reviews, etc.
3- User generated content. Ability to build and maintain individual profiles documenting and sharing life’s most dynamic moments. :
4- Profile search matching. A Search Engine that MATCHES families based on their profile. This is a futuristic step that goes beyound the personnal matching websites. Essentially, it is a multilevel matching at the level of the adult(s) and the children.
5- Family GetTogether service. Ability to form and maintain meet up groups for families such as PTA groups, local mom clubs, local neighborhood watch programs, etc. .

Board of Advisors

Ghassan Gholmieh founded FamilyIgloo in Oct 2007. Ghassan received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Southern California. He went on to specialize in Internal Medicine at the same university and became board certified in 2005. He currently works as a hospitalist.

Ralph Gholmieh, Ph.D., is currently a systems design engineer at Qualcomm Inc. in San Diego working with the MediaFLO Technologies division. He received his Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1997 from Texas A&M University, and his Doctorate (Ph.D.) in 2003 from the University of California San Diego. Between 2000 and 2005, he was working with Ericsson Inc. in San Diego. His research and work interests include wireless communication, multimedia, file broadcast, system performance optimization in 3G and broadcast networks, 3G standards, and mesh networks.


Walid Soussou, Ph.D, is a postdoctoral associate at the Burnham Institute for Medical research, where he is investigating cures and treatments for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, stroke, and glaucoma. Walid obtained a Ph.D. in Neurosciences at the University of Southern California, and has a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Boston College. Presently, Walid is still cutting ice-cubes, with the intent of building and populating his own family igloo soon


Ali Sabet is the founder of Sabet Brands Inc. Sabet Brands owns and operates a few communities of its own including www.mojizu.com and www.sabet.tv. Sabet brands brings in years of experience of branding, strategy, and design to FamilyIgloo. Mr Sabet is very passionate, highly creative and always excited about new ventures.


Micheal Banks has been helping small businesses and start up for the last 10 years. He originally opened the first public eBay customer drop-off point. He went on to build and support hundreds of other eBay drop-off stores. Today, he supports all kind of entrepreneurs and small businesses in California through his Orange County Entrepreneurs Center (OCEC). The OCEC is a driving force behind making entrepreneurs dream come true and supports them with an array of services and information.
