Please, parents, keep your kids home!

I have to vent a bit. I help in my two grade-school aged kids' classes at school, and it NEVER fails, I go to help, and there is a child with green ooze streaming out of his nose. If not ooze, there is a child coughing so often that he can't even speak a sentence. I've seen kids throw up in the cafeteria. I've seen a child turn to another child to tell them something, and instead hacking germs and goo right into their face.

Now come on, parents! I know sometimes it's hard to tell if… Continue

Slowing down my world

I recently realized something...I'm busy! Duh? Well, it just occurred to me, after hanging up with someone who called to ask me to help with something, that I need to STOP. I want to help, I want to do things, I want my kids to be able to do things and I want to go to things. But when does the opportunity arise in my day to just do NOTHING? I find myself grinding to a halt sometimes and thinking, man, I need to slow down! I get lost in my week, and pretty soon it's Friday. I get so caught up in… Continue

Budget Better....with Better Budgeting!

I often like to browse the internet for new and interesting ways to save some money, organize coupons, and plan meals. A lot of sites I run across tell me a lot of the same thing, but I recently came across one that really impressed me. The site is www.BetterBudgeting.com. What impresses me most about this site is the wide range of resources they offer on one site.

They have useful tips about shopping, that seem simple, but could help a… Continue

Get Ready for the C-c-c-cold!

Our area has been fortunate this year to enjoy a long warm season, but this weekend that came to a grinding halt. As we went to church, I heard teeth chattering and kids' moaning as we learned it's now cold enough to warm up the van before we go. This is the time of year I hit the panic button: Do I have enough gloves for everyone, do their coats fit, and what about hats?! But this year was different, it was a nice relaxing venture to find everything, and I'd love to share why. Maybe it won't… Continue

Save more by planning

As a stay at home mother of four, I have to be very careful how I spend our money. I've tried many different programs, websites, and strategies, and it always seems to come down to one very valuable tool: planning. It doesn't matter how sophisticated your system of savings is, without proper planning it will fly right out the window. I wanted to create this blog to see how some of you help pinch your pennies each day.

I've tried many websites, and many of them are very good systems.… Continue

I have no idea, most likely it will by limited to the time that Sean has off for recovery, which is until Tuesday. I know she will be here Weds night to be here for the surgery on Thursday morning. Aly has a special class on Saturday the she has to complete for her first communion and Sean is not allowed to walk around. So we needed someone here to take her to the class because I can't drag in the other two and sit through it and Sean won't be able to chase them around, plus I lack the whole being Catholic thing so I wouldn't be able to help out Aly anyhow. So mother-in-law really only needed to be here that day but I guess she wanted to be here for the surgery, then after Saturday's class she probably won't want to drive on a church day, I'm guessing she's leaving on Monday.
