Giggles and Wiggles Learning Center is a play-based developmental center for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Our unique and cutting-edge programs are based on developmental research and designed by licensed and credentialed professionals in the fields of education and physical therapy (motor skills). Our program targets the needs of the "whole child" with activities to assist in the development of pre-academics, cognition, motor skills, language, social skills, daily living skills and creativity. At Giggles & Wiggles Learning Center we focus on mastering developmental milestones through concentrated work at different developmental stations.
Why begin with infants? Getting ready for school begins at birth. The brain is the only organ not fully formed at birth. "A child's relationships and experiences during the early years greatly influence how her brain grows. The early years of life are a period in which the foundation for future learning is being laid at the emotional, cognitive, experiential, and even cellular levels. During
infancy, brain development is occurring at a faster pace than any
other time in human being's development. The networks within the infant's are transformed into an increasingly complex web of visual, motor, language, and social- emotional connections that are essential for later literacy learning". (Zero to Three: National Center for Infants, Toddlers and Families)
Why a play-based program? Play is a child's tool for understanding how the world works. Play is not only fun but it is one of the most important ways to nurture
development! In a sense, play is a child's occupation.
How is Giggles and Wiggles Learning Center different from other programs? Our program was designed by licensed and credentialed professionals in the fields of education and physical therapy. Giggles and Wiggles Learning Center is independently owned and operated. Our owner is a Licensed Educational Psychologist who holds a Masters Degree in School Psychology and an Education Specialist Degree from Chapman University. The curriculum was developed based on her research and experiences with children. The activities and programs are
designed to assist in the mastery of developmentally appropriate
tasks according to Piaget's stages of development (Sensorimotor ages 0-2 and Preoperational ages 2-7). A credentialed kindergarten teacher from Irvine Unified School District assisted in curriculum development to ensure that learners develop appropriate school readiness skills. We also felt that it was important for our program to offer competitive motor skills programming. Therefore, we had a licensed physical therapist design activities that are safe and appropriate for your child. These activities help to foster coordination, balance and motor development (fine & gross).
