St. John’s Episcopal School is committed to grow every child's God given potential in a joyful and enriching environment. The school program stretches from preschool to the eight grade
Preschool Program St. John’s Episcopal School’s Preschool Program is designed to address the unique needs of early childhood. The appropriate academic practices that encourage intellectual development in these formative years are set in a positive and nurturing environment. Attention to the specific individual differences of young children, within a small group setting, allows for optimum learning. Children develop understanding through meaningful experiences and play, while learning takes place through the active involvement in relevant, interesting, and age-appropriate activities. Creativity and self-confidence are encouraged, and it is our goal for each child to develop a love-of-learning that will continue throughout their school years
Elementary School The Elementary School at St. John’s Episcopal School consists of kindergarten through fifth grade. Small class sizes averaging twenty-two students and the utilization of trained instructional aides result in low student to faculty ratios. While core subjects are taught within a structure of self-contained classes, the expansive facility lends itself to a variety of state of the art enrichment classrooms. Students receive additional instruction from teachers with special training in art, music, science, technology, Spanish, religion and physical education.
The Middle School St. John's Episcopal School, The Middle School, provides a safe, caring, and positive environment that fosters an academically challenging curriculum, in order to enhance the mind, body, and spirit of each student. Our program focuses on students developing a broad knowledge base. We also place a high emphasis on developing a proper sense of values, which includes respect for others, responsibility towards the community, care for the environment, and pride in oneself and one’s appearance. The Middle School’s curriculum reaches for a balance academically, socially, physically, and morally. It is based on the wide variety of developmental changes found in our students between Sixth and Eighth grades.
The Church Our Episcopal worship, drawn from The Book of Common Prayer, reminds some of the Roman Catholic church because of our stress on sacraments such as Holy Eucharist (some say Holy Communion) and baptism. It feels Protestant to others because of our Bible-based preaching and teaching. Episcopalians call that the via media -- the middle way. In a divisive, cynical era, The Episcopal Church offers a moderate, balanced approach to growing into the intimate relationship with God that all people of faith share.
