Budget Better....with Better Budgeting!

I often like to browse the internet for new and interesting ways to save some money, organize coupons, and plan meals. A lot of sites I run across tell me a lot of the same thing, but I recently came across one that really impressed me. The site is www.BetterBudgeting.com. What impresses me most about this site is the wide range of resources they offer on one site.

They have useful tips about shopping, that seem simple, but could help a… Continue

Support Those That Support Us

I have a never ending appreciation for volunteers, coaches and sponsors. I feel strongly about the fact, that if it wasn’t for these people, our children would not have programs to participate in. Like everyone else, we have had extraordinary volunteers, mediocre volunteers and bad volunteers. Regardless of the quality of leadership we have received, we have always shown support and respect to those who have chosen to lead. Parents teach their children respect by showing respect and it‘s an… Continue

Get Ready for the C-c-c-cold!

Our area has been fortunate this year to enjoy a long warm season, but this weekend that came to a grinding halt. As we went to church, I heard teeth chattering and kids' moaning as we learned it's now cold enough to warm up the van before we go. This is the time of year I hit the panic button: Do I have enough gloves for everyone, do their coats fit, and what about hats?! But this year was different, it was a nice relaxing venture to find everything, and I'd love to share why. Maybe it won't… Continue

Cut Down On Cleaning Time

I have to admit, something I could improve about my domestic duties is cleaning the house. I find myself frantically cleaning the entire house before company arrives. And I always tell myself that I'm going to do a better job about keeping up with the dust, dirt and grime on a daily basis. I need to take all those helpful hints my sister and mother have given me over the years and use them. Please allow me to share them with you:

- Clean only what needs to be cleaned. Don't feel like… Continue

Keeping the Paper Path Under Control

It’s three months into the school year and the paperwork is piling up. There are stacks of graded papers, newsletters, flyers and notes. It can overwhelm anyone and it can easily get out of control. Here are some ideas to keep your kids' paper path in order:

- If you can, take care of the graded papers as soon as they come home. Have your child go through them with you and then dispose what you don’t need to keep (or recycle). If you can not look at them immediately, leave them out… Continue

Celebrate!

Today is my baby's birthday. I say baby, but she is now as tall as I am, she now wears makeup, she is now 14. It seems so long ago when she was a baby and we fretted about anything she did, anything she touched, anyone who touched her. We have come a long way. Not only is she 14, she is tall, beautiful, smart and she handles herself so well that she has become my hero. She makes me proud everyday.

Typically, kids' birthdays get consumed by planning the perfect party; the theme, the… Continue
